Low stock
This is a hand-pulled print of the cylinders and valve gear of a Rio Grande K-27 Mikado steam locomotive by artist Stephen Wilder.
The Mezzotint process involves perforating the surface of a copper plate with millions of tiny holes using a specialized rocker tool. This produces a velvety, uniform black surface when printed. Details and highlights are created by burnishing this surface with a variety of tools, allowing for a wide range of values.
A handful of prints from this limited signed and numbered edition of 10 are available. As these are hand-pulled, they feature deckled edges, impressions, and some marks on the outer border.
Printed area measures approximately 5" x 7".
Watermark is not present on actual prints. Prints will ship flat with backing material and a protective sleeve. Prints are unframed and unmatted.
